How to play Lexik
Lexik is a letter-tile word game for one to four players. You build crossing words on a 15 × 15 board, and every letter scores points. Here is everything you need for your first game.
The goal
Score more points than your opponents by building words with the 7 tiles on your rack. Each tile shows its value in the corner: common letters such as E or S are worth 1 point, rare ones such as Q or Z are worth 10.
Placing a word
- The first word must cover the centre star.
- Every following word touches tiles already on the board, in one row or one column, with no gaps.
- All the words formed by your move, including the short cross-words, must be valid.
- A blank tile stands for any letter you choose, and scores 0.
Scoring and premium squares
- Double or triple letter: the tile placed on it counts 2 or 3 times.
- Double or triple word: the whole word counts 2 or 3 times. The centre star is a double word square.
- Length bonus: in the Lexik variant, 5 tiles in one move earn +5, 6 tiles +15, 7 tiles +40 and 8 tiles +60. In the Classik variant, using all 7 tiles earns +50.
The Lexik extras
The Lexik variant adds surprises to the classic game, so that no two games feel the same:
- Chests: hidden squares that give points, a blank or a free exchange to the first player who uncovers them.
- Golden tile: one tile in the bag is golden; the move that plays it counts double.
- Target square and pattern challenges: small goals worth +25 points, three of each per game.
- Missions and the flame streak: reward steady play, move after move.
When you are stuck
You can exchange tiles for new ones, as long as there are at least 7 left in the bag, or pass your turn. In duels, the Hint button shows you the best moves three times per game.
End of the game
When the bag is empty and one player has used all their tiles, the game ends: that player gains the value of the tiles left on the other racks, and the others lose it. If every player passes twice in a row, the game also ends.
